Organization Description: For 14 years, Sportsclub Kids has been providing fun and enriching programming that parents and kids love! Our programs, which serve children 4-16 years old, include Summer Day Camp (10-11 weeks), School Break Camp, After School, Kids’ Night Out, a counselor-in-training program, field trips, and birthday parties. Our 5500 square foot facility combined with the amenities of Sportsclub Fitness and Wellness Greenville (located next door) allow us to offer a huge variety of activities including swimming, tennis, arts, sports, and much more. Position Type: Full-time position with varying hours depending on the season, scheduled events, and workload. Some weekends and holidays are required.

Position Purpose: As the general manager and camp director, you will be at the heart of a fun and vibrant community that provides year-round programming that enriches the lives of children. You will develop and oversee all programs, provide leadership for campers and staff, build relationships with stakeholders (parents, campers, staff, visitors, Sportsclub department heads, etc.), foster a positive camp culture, and plan the strategic vision for Sportsclub Kids. You will also play an important role in the day-to-day operations of Sportsclub Kids and need to have the flexibility to step into a variety of different roles. For this dynamic position, you need to be someone who works well in a busy, high-energy environment and who can successfully prioritize and manage multiple projects at once.

You need to care passionately about creating fun and meaningful experience that help children grow and enthusiastically embrace challenges to provide the highest-quality programs for our participants, parents, staff, and guests.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

Recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, and supervising staff (approximately 12 people during the school year and 45 during the summer)
Fostering a positive, healthy, and fun culture that promotes growth and our KODE values
Providing leadership that is constructive, supportive, and encourages collaboration
Developing, improving, and growing all programs and overseeing their execution in a way that supports the mission of Sportsclub Kids and the company goals of Sportsclub
Creating and implementing the budget ($500,000+ annually)
Communicating effectively (oral and written), building relationships with potential and current customers, and skillfully handling any issues and concerns
Overseeing registration for all programs
Marketing Sportsclub Kids through social media, emails, the website, events, and other means in coordination with Sportsclub’s Marketing Department
Creating and implementing policies and procedures to ensure camper safety including risk management and emergency action plans
Researching and purchasing equipment and supplies
Supervising camper behavior management, which includes creating and adapting policies, training staff, intervening in behavioral issues, collaborating with parents about camper behavior, etc.
Coordinating with Sportsclub staff about billing, marketing, facility maintenance, etc.
Attending monthly managerial meetings and working effectively fellow managers to further company goals.

have experience working with children in a leadership role (at least 5 years) and a passion for helping them grow
have experience working in a camp or recreation environment (at least 2 years)
have management experience (at least 2 years)
have a at least a bachelor’s degree
are experienced and proficient with Microsoft Office, Constant Contact, and social media (Facebook and Instagram)
can read, analyze, and interpret basic business documents
are at least 21 years old with a valid driver’s license and good driving record and are willing to drive a minibus
are willing to complete American Heart Association CPR/AED certification, Starguard Shallow-Water Lifeguard certification, CDC Heads Up concussion training (online), University of South Carolina’s Children’s Law Center Mandated Reporter Training (online), and Stewards of Children Child Protection Training (online) within 90 days of being hired (all provided by Sportsclub)
are able to stand or walk for 25% or more of their shift, lift up to 25 lbs., and climb stairs
are comfortable doing basic math operations including calculating percentages
can prioritize, organize, and delegate assignments
are able to use strong reasoning skills to solve problems that require abstract thinking
are self-motivated and work well independently without direct supervision

POSITION SUMMARY:
YMCA Camp Weona is a traditional overnight camp, with a variety of program features including horseback riding, high ropes, archery, aquatics, rock climbing and environmental science. The resident camp director plans, organizes and implements activities, provides direction, supervision and support to resident camp staff, implements the marketing plan, performs administrative tasks, and ensures the safety of campers.

GENERAL WORK SCHEDULE:
This is a seasonal position. The employee is required to reside at Camp Weona during all program sessions, with scheduled time off every week.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Plans and implements camp activities as per the program design.
2. Trains, supervises, directs and evaluates program staff. Participates in the interview process to identify the best camp staff. Manages the staff schedule to ensure that the staff to child ratio is met.
3. Develops and publishes the staff schedule and authorizes time worked.
4. Implements the pre-camp marketing plan to maximize enrollment.
5. Provides daily oversight and leadership of camp operations. Identifies and solves problems, implements appropriate discipline techniques, and enforces policies and procedures.
6. Plans and facilitates components of the pre-camp staff training program.
7. Ensures effective communication between staff and parents of campers.
8. Develops and maintains positive, open communication between campers and camp staff.
9. Implements and maintains work rules and regulations as required by YMCA Buffalo Niagara and the NYS Department of Health.
10. Pursues new and innovative program initiatives.
11. Participates with campers when needed, including in the pool.
12. Oversees the administrative functions of attendance, camper development, program and evaluation.
13. Schedules, plans and carries out regular staff meetings.
14. Implements ongoing safety checks to assure a healthy and safe camp environment. Implements emergency procedures when necessary.
15. Completes additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Must have knowledge of and previous experience in resident camping, group work, recreation and related fields.
2. Experience in program administration and staff supervision.
3. Strong leadership, communication and organizational skills.
4. Have and maintain community CPR certification. (American Red Cross, ASHI, American Heart Association)
5. Responding to Emergencies or Advanced First Aid certification is preferred and required before the start of camp programs. (American Red Cross, ASHI, American Heart Association)
6. Must be at least 21 years of age.

Camp Director

Betty & Milton Katz JCC

The JCC Camps at Medford is looking for a Director of its off-site day camp. The JCC Camps at Medford is one of the largest Jewish Day Camps in North America and is an ACA accredited camp located in Medford, NJ. JCC Camps at Medford is the offsite camp of the Betty and Milton Katz JCC in Cherry Hill, NJ. The Camp is host to over 1300 campers and over 500 staff during the 8-week summer program.

The Director provides leadership to the Camp, including but not limited to, administration, coordination, and supervision of all functions within the organization in accordance with the Values, Vision, and Mission. Reporting to the Chief Program Officer, the Director provides leadership and direction to the staff and is responsible for all operations.

Responsibilities

Program innovation, creation, planning, implementation, and evaluation
Fiscal management and oversight
Provide supervision and direction to the full time, year round facility staff
Supervise Leadership Team members and meet regularly to review goals
Management of the Weekend Swim Club held on location
Oversight of the Facility Rental Coordinator for all rentals held on location
Fundraising; the seeking and writing of grants, conducting special fundraising events
Work with committees; executive and parent
Building, fostering and maintaining relationships and ensuring a positive community image for the Camp

Program Development

Design, deliver and evaluate camp programs that meet the needs and interests of the camps target populations and ensure their delivery in a safe and quality manner
Develop vision and strategies for summer and year-round camp offerings by assessing competition, determining strategic opportunities and mirroring them with the mission of the J
Ensure that there is appropriate and meaningful Jewish content
Create and actively promote a comfortable and welcoming environment where every participant is treated with dignity and respect, in a friendly, personalized manner

Communication

Correspond with camper’s parents and prospective camper’s parents in a timely and professional manner
Work with marketing department to create fliers, brochures, articles, and other promotional materials
Build relationships with all program participants and parents
Meet with parents and children whenever necessary

Administrative

Develop budgets for all program areas and manage continual budget responsibility
Oversee payroll for department
Partner with the J Marketing Department to coordinate the development of a marketing plan for all camp programs, including brochure development, advertising and community events
Work cooperatively with J development staff and leadership to identify and secure funding for programs
Represent the JCC in a professional manner and provide excellent customer service

Agency Responsibilities

Attend JCC events as needed
Attend department head meetings and other staff meetings
Some nights and weekends required
Work in collaboration with other JCC departments as needed
Other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Skills:

5+ years supervisory experience
5+ years of experience managing youth or family programs, preferably in a camp setting
Experience in creating and managing program budgets
Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills. Ability to communicate information clearly (both written and oral)
Extremely organized and detailed oriented; Ability to work with tight deadlines
Ability and desire to work independently and as a team member with the community and other employees
Positive, upbeat and enthusiastic about working in a non-profit environment
Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with a diverse group that includes JCC staff, parents, lay leaders, children and the public
Knowledge of Jewish culture, traditions, and community, and previous experience in Jewish programming preferred
