Game Designer

As a Game Designer on the Facebook AR/VR content team, you’ll be at the forefront of prototyping, producing, and shipping virtual reality games and experiences which are conceived as ‘VR-first’. You will help lead by setting direction throughout the development process, partnering with the art and engineering teams to explore and implement prototypes that set the bar for VR content inside and outside the company. The ideal candidate shares our passion for VR gaming, and will apply their expertise to developing revolutionary content for the gaming platforms of the future.

GAME DESIGNER RESPONSIBILITIES

You will help lead and guide our efforts to develop VR’s potential through the design, prototype and creation of novel interactive experiences that can serve as the proof of concept for VR games
You work well in groups. You smoothly coordinate and collaborate across multiple, diverse teams
You are as comfortable setting direction as you are getting your hands dirty
Rethinking everything about game design, from low level mechanics to experiential goals – and the possibilities that VR affords
Coordinating with the rest of the development team to prototype experiences using different formats (from paper to interactive/digital tools) and develop novel, interactive experiences for the Oculus Rift and Quest
Able to apply different design goals, moving from experimentation to tuning/iteration/polishing
Working with team leadership to establish production roadmaps for prototypes, products, and the development team itself
Establishing and building relationships between internal and when appropriate, external teams, and fostering collaboration amongst them

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

8+ years of game design experience including experience prototyping with little or no engineering support in a commercial game engine (Unreal, Unity)
Demonstrated interest and fluency in VR game/social design, and demonstrable adaptability to draw from a breadth of traditional game genres and mechanics
Experience in building and/or using models/scenes with 3D modeling tools, and to build prototypes and levels with those assets
Experience collaborating closely with the art, design, and engineering team
Experience shipping multiple high profile games
Experience prototyping games and bringing them into production – if you’ve worked on sequels, experience in introducing significant new systems to the franchise
Proven technical background: fluency in tools, scripting, and programming languages
Proven leadership experience in the gaming space

An established gaming studio with several offices throughout the nation is looking to add a Game Designer to their growing team. It’s important that you have gaming experience within the casino industry. This role contributes to the overall financial success of the company by designing and directing the development of casino games that players want to play.

Collection and analysis of player and industry information to identify trends and design competitive games. This includes ongoing analysis of game earnings information.
Provide Studio team detailed design documentation of the product being are created
Work closely with all areas of the business to ensure the product is built to the proper specifications
Work with Studio Producer to deliver high quality on schedule game production.
Work with Sales to present games and collect customer feedback to meet their needs.
Generate next generation product ideas and intellectual property.
Stay up-to-date with gaming design trends with a focus in casino games
Contribute to documentation for regulatory submissions
Collaborate with other senior professionals on a range of other projects, supporting both core business and future ventures
Experience in both Agile and Waterfall project management environments
Participate in regular status meetings with all necessary stakeholders
Develops, maintains, and produces all necessary technical documentation for each product task assigned for both internal and regulatory purposes
Requirements
Solid written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels throughout the organization and have strong working relationships within all levels of the organization.
Knowledge of all game development processes.
Required familiarity with casino games and game math.
Extensive knowledge of real money or social casino games and player psychology
5+ years of experience in game development or equivalent casino industry experience.
