Landscape Architects have the responsibility to provide professional landscape design work in preparing plans, drawings, and specifications for the functional and aesthetic development of land and related areas.

Responsibilities

Landscape Architectural Design (90%)

  • Use architectural software to design the grounds of new facilities or design landscaping modifications to existing facilities located on clients’ property.
  • Evaluate, select, and apply standard landscape architectural techniques and procedures.
  • Study conditions of the site including such factors as drainage, topsoil, trees, rock formations and the design of planned or existing structures.
  • Provide guidance to the personnel engaged in planting and transplanting trees, flowers, and shrubs.
  • Perform architectural drafting of sketches and working drawings as required.
  • Review designs for compliance with codes and specifications.
  • Assist architectural and engineering personnel with plans for buildings, roads, and other structural features of clients’ land, in the interest of coordinating effective landscape design and preserving natural scenery.
  • Clarify and resolve technical issues.
  • May provide technical assistance with proposals and presentations.
  • May write reports and memorandums and assist with project presentations to clients.
  • May assist Project Managers, as requested, in the preparation of cost information and other project related items.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Administrative (10%)

  • Participate in team meetings, all staff meetings, and other non-billable planning sessions.
  • Participate in training and development activities as needed and directed by supervisor.
  • Perform administrative tasks including, but not limited to, time sheet completion, expense reports, completing correspondence, etc.

Technical Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited university with a degree in landscape architecture
  • May require registration as a landscape architect

Landscape Architects support their team, Project Managers and/or Directors in the design of projects and development of illustrative drawings, models, presentations, construction documents and project technical specifications. Landscape Architects may also assist with the organization and development of team materials such CAD standards and details, illustrative library materials, and vendor resources, etc. The desired candidate is a self-motivated team player with a passion for the profession.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review data received from senior staff and PM’s, analyze information, and determine compliance with standards and design concepts
  • Produce preliminary and completed site layouts, design concepts, and detailed design drawings ensuring they meet our company and industry standards and codes
  • Research and obtain standards/codes/permits required by client and jurisdiction, coordinating with project leadership as necessary to develop plans accurately and efficiently
  • Apply technical concepts and theoretical design information to real world situations
  • Work with project leadership to understand scope of work, schedule, and budget
  • Complete deliverables and project responsibilities within scope, budget, and schedule, reviewing drawings for completeness and accuracy

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Landscape Architecture or equivalent experience
  • North Carolina Landscape Architect License or in the process of licensure approval, or the ability to seek reciprocity.
  • Minimum 4 years of landscape architecture or related experience
  • Self-motivated, engaged, and team-oriented with the ability to work independently
  • The ability to execute multiple tasks under tight deadlines and prioritize responsibilities
  • The understanding of design concepts and methods commensurate with experience
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and/or AutoCAD Civil3D
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite applications, specifically InDesign and Photoshop
