POSITION SUMMARY:
Lead and support the development of innovative packaging solutions or design changes of existing packaging from initial concept and development to qualification and final release to production for new and existing products and components. Emphasis will be placed on developing cost-effective packaging solutions that protect finished goods, subassemblies and components from handling, storage, and shipping damage as it progresses through the company supply chain which comprises of domestic and international shipments by all modes of transportation.

The Packaging Engineer, supports packaging component and assembly processes through design, specification, controlling and testing in the manufacturing and conversion processes, ultimately resulting in packing fit for purpose. Design and manufacture model is used to produce high quality blister packaging without supervision. In addition, oversee the daily activities of the Design Department in Managers absence.
ESSENTIAL JOB TASKS:

Design all models using a 3-D parametric solid modeling program.
Create engineering drawings of blister to submit for customer’s approval.
Create and fit functionality of blisters designed.
Instruct and mentor all other Designers in the areas of Design and Project Management.
Offer design assistance to sales, customer service and customers.
Manage all projects with autonomy.
Assist with plant tours and conduct software demonstrations to customers and new employees.
Assume all responsibilities of the Design Manager in his/her absence.
Meet with clients to discuss projects.
Review, examine or take measurements of product samples for use in design of packaging product. (May travel to customer site when product is too cumbersome to transport to the facility.)
Modify and refine designs using working models to conform with customer specifications or production limitations.
Attend meetings, as needed.
Provide complete design input to fulfill requirements for part
If needed, can duplicate complex customer product manually in CAD.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
*Min. 5 years of experience * General engineering and machine shop courses
* Associate’s Degree or combination of training / experience and education.
