Position Purpose:
Plan, organize, direct and control day to day operations to achieve department and plan objectives while following applicable safety, process and procedural standards.
Principle Accountabilities

Gotham Greens is seeking passionate, driven, and hardworking individual to fill a position as a Plant Manager for our Hollis, Queens Facility. This is a hands-on visible position requiring direct oversight of labor management, production process, packaging, and distribution. The ideal candidate will be results driven, comfortable rolling up their sleeves, and capable of interacting with individuals at all levels of the organization. Experience with harvesting, packing and warehouse operations, managing inbound and outbound logistics, staff training and shift schedules; and proven success in achieving cost reductions and efficiencies in plant operations is required. Experience opening and establishing a new manufacturing facility is highly preferred.

Plant Manager- Newark
Plans, directs, administers, and controls production of various products in accordance with customer and Company specifications. Uses knowledge of product technology, processes, production methods and procedures, and equipment capabilities to produce Company products safely and in an environmentally responsible manner. Establishes production and quality control standards, develops budget, cost controls, and obtains data regarding types, quantities, specifications, and delivery dates of products ordered in coordination with management. Plans and directs production activities and establishes production priorities for products in keeping with effective operations and cost factors.
Responsibilities:
1. Obtain and maintain a blue seal NJ state boiler license. Provide boiler coverage during the winter when other supervisory staff is not available.
2. Set the supervisory and boiler schedules to ensure no gaps in coverage.
3. Review and maintain with the ERA Director the plant emergency response procedures and call lists.
4. Participate in and support the PSM, ISO and Change Management processes.
5. Coordinates production activities with procurement, maintenance, quality control, etc. to obtain optimum production and utilization of employees and equipment.
6. Evaluates and analyzes production, quality control, maintenance, and operational reports to determine causes of non-conformity with product specifications, operating, and production problems.
7. Develops and implements operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate operating problems and improve product quality.
8. Revises production schedules and priorities resulting from equipment failure or operating problems.
9. Consults with engineering to modify machines and equipment in order to improve production and product quality.
10. Analyzes operating standards and ensures compliance with regulatory requirements by observing staff.
11. Initiates Human Resource actions by interpreting labor-management agreement to promote, transfer, discharge, or discipline employees.
Resolves worker grievances or submits unsettled grievance to management for resolution.
12. Maintains production batch cards and other production documentation in order to provide an audit flow.
13. Performs daily cycle count activities for inventory accuracy.
14. Monitors raw materials for production needs to ensure that materials are available to manufacture customer products.
15. Interprets labor contract on a regular basis in order to minimize disputes and resolve grievances in a timely manner.

18. Manages positive relations with outside vendors and contractors for all routine services such as uniforms, non-hazardous waste disposal, landscaping, cleaning, etc.

Education:
M.S. Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related Sciences along with ten years of experience in a chemical manufacturing environment. Experience must include a minimum of ten years of increasing management experience. Possession of a Blue Seal Boiler license or higher is desirable.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Project Management. Working knowledge of BPCS a plus.
The successful applicant for this position will have the following attributes:
1. Proven ability in managing and developing the production and maintenance staff to:
a. Ensure that all Process Safety Management, Change Management processes and Standard Operating Procedures are strictly enforced.
b. Lead through personal action, support and foster a culture of safety and quality throughout all plant operations by taking direct action to identify and eliminate safety and quality risks.
c. Incent the supervisors and other staff through direct action to constantly analyze our production and other processes to identify and capture profit improvements.
2. Thorough understanding of regulatory requirements as well as accountability as chief emergency responder to any plant emergency, including dealing with federal, state and local officials in the event they become involved.
3. Ensure that the plant maintains supervisory coverage at all times when in operation. This includes taking shifts if and when other supervisors call out or are unavailable.
4. Able to think logically and take independent action to solve potentially critical production problems without senior management assistance. This includes, but is not limited to, knowing when a problem needs to be taken to the next level or when cross functional collaboration is required.
5. Able to maintain discipline among plant personnel through the fair and firm application of Troy’s policies, procedures and management directives. This includes the use of the progressive discipline system when necessary in order to meet labor productivity goals.
