Understanding the Test Answer Scale

Each test question features a scale for you to indicate how much you would enjoy and be good at performing the work activity described. The scale ranges from 'Strongly Disagree' to 'Strongly Agree.'

In this workbook, each answer option is represented by a circle of a different color.

Here is a guide to what each of the five ratings mean, along with their corresponding colors:

Strongly Disagree (Red, 1st circle on the left): You strongly dislike this work activity. Doing this work activity would feel highly uncomfortable, frustrating, or unfulfilling to you. You would actively seek to avoid careers that require this activity. It represents something you not only would dislike doing, but you might also lack the skills and abilities for it, and you have no interest in developing them.

Important: Selecting 'Strongly Disagree' means Career Clarifier will exclude any career involving this work activity. Choose this option only for work activities you are certain you want to avoid entirely.

Disagree (Gold, 2nd circle from the left): You would prefer to avoid this work activity when possible, as it does not bring satisfaction or fulfillment to you. This work activity might feel like a chore or something that drains you. While you may have some ability in this area, it is not something you are interested in developing further because it doesn't align with your interests, skills, or abilities. Ideally, you would prefer a career that does not include this work activity.

Neither Agree Nor Disagree (Gray, center circle): You are neutral about performing this work activity. You do not have strong feelings either for or against doing it. While you are capable of doing this work activity, it does not particularly excite you nor does it feel like a chore. You might not seek out opportunities to do this work activity, but you are also not opposed to doing it when necessary.

Agree (Blue 4th circle from the left): You have a positive feeling toward this work activity, and you would find it enjoyable and rewarding to do it. You feel confident in your ability to perform the necessary skills and abilities or learn how to do them. While this work activity may not be your ultimate passion, you would still find satisfaction in performing it.

Strongly Agree (Green, 5th circle from the left): You feel a strong connection to this work activity, and it is something you’d be passionate about doing as part of a career. You have or are eager to develop and regularly use the necessary skills and abilities, and using them would bring you pleasure, fulfillment, and a sense of achievement. It feels both natural and highly satisfying to engage in this work activity.
